C leaning your home and maintaining it the way you want is no easy task and sometimes, it can be difficult to know what to do. But have no worries! We’re here to help!

Here are some common home maintenance mistakes that you should avoid at all costs!

Unorganized Cleaning

Cleaning cannot be improvised, which is why many struggle with it. You have to be at least a minimal amount of organized to be sure to be able to successfully clean your home. Make a list of tasks to be done so that you have a step by step outline on how to go about it. You must pre-buy all the cleaning supplies you’ll need so you don’t have to leave anything undone.

This brings us to:

Being Poorly Equipped

This is a mistake that almost all of us make. We delay and procrastinate getting the right supplies. However, equipment is very important for  successful cleaning and maintenance. Arm yourself with a broom, vacuum cleaner, gloves, brushes, clean clothes, and a set of tools to avoid round trips to stores or giving up altogether.

Not Putting on Gloves

This is essential, especially if you use chemicals that can irritate your skin!

Not Sorting Out Your Stuff

Take advantage of spring cleaning to sort, give and throw away clothes and other objects that you no longer use!

Not Moving The Furniture

Cleaning must not be superficial. To be sure to remove all dust and dirt, move the furniture and really get in there!

Not Using Natural Products

One of the most common mistakes is to use chemicals to clean up. However, these are harmful to the environment but also to our health! Prefer white vinegar, baking soda or lemon to clean with good conscience.

Using a Dirty Sponge

Did you know, more than 10 million bacteria live in our dirty sponges and mops. To make your spring cleaning as efficient as possible, it is better for these two objects to be clean. To do this, clean them regularly or change them at least every two months.

Not Changing Your Doormat

We rarely think about it, but our doormats are also full of bacteria and dirt. Remember to change them every 6 months!

Forgetting About The Small Details

We often forget to clean the small details of our interior. However, for cleaning to be effective, remember to disinfect and dust switches and door handles, but also baseboards and frames attached to the wall.

Not Cleaning The Washing Machine

Did you think the washing machine cleans itself automatically? False. The washing machine gets dirty every time you use it, and can be infested with microbes and mold. So remember to clean it. To do this: pour 50g of baking soda into the drum and 50ml of white vinegar into the detergent tray and start a short cycle! Don’t forget to clean out the collected lint, too!

Forgetting To Wash Towels

It is very rarely thought of, but towels such as bed linen and bath mats must be washed pretty regularly to eliminate mites and prevent build-up.

Not Getting Help

Thinking of being able to do everything on your own is already a mistake. If you have a large house, remember to ask for help. Several home help services exist for a trouble-free household. And if you have a big family, think about mobilizing children!

Sunny days are coming and with them, the traditional spring cleaning! For a clean and healthy home, beware of these missteps!

Home maintenance: Avoid these mistakes!

Many things can help you tackle the mammoth task of cleaning. But for it to be truly effective, there are some mistakes to avoid. One of them is to proceed in any order. However, spring cleaning is an activity that requires time and organization. First focus on the rooms that get dirty the fastest, such as the kitchen and bathroom, then tackle the bedrooms. Another mistake is to clean up a sponge or dirty mop: however, more than 10 million bacteria can stay there!

Which products should you use?

For a clean and healthy interior, there is no need to use chemicals. Prefer the natural elements around us, to clean in a simple way and without breaking your piggy bank. For example, rely on:

White vinegar: ideal for shining surfaces and descaling toilets.

Baking soda: an ecological white powder that can be used to clean the whole house, and especially absorb odors.

Black soap: it disinfects, detaches, deeply cleans and shines floors, such as tiles.

Sommière's earth: it absorbs fat, present on sofas or carpets.

Soda crystals: this product is an excellent anti-scale and anti-limestone. Above all, it allows pipes to be uncorked and the sink cleaned.

So these are the most common home maintenance mistakes that you should avoid!
