  • Tips for Organizing a Small Kitchen

M aking your kitchenette tidy is no simple feat, from precisely stacking cookware to quickly accessing cupboard supplies. Tips on organizing a small kitchen are always helpful. Do you have a habit of using the same dishes and cups every day?

Put them all on the bottom shelf, where they'll be easily reachable, and store less commonly used kitchenware and tableware, like a frying pan or the plates that you only take out for special guests, on an upper shelf or in the bottom of a tall cupboard.

Whether you live in a tiny apartment or simply have a limited amount of room in your kitchen, these sensible solutions will help you organize your kitchen and make it look very tidy.

Here are some useful tips to make your life easier.

Make Different Zones

You may have heard of zones when researching kitchen designs. Cleaning materials, kitchen towels, and the garbage bin should be kept in cabinets surrounding the cleanup zone – the basin and washer – whereas pans and cookware, baking pans, seasonings, and other items should be kept in storage cabinets near the oven.

It's an effective way of arranging a tiny kitchen. But when organizational ideas are limited, you'll have to get innovative. It is helpful to split it down even more in the kitchens where the “zones” are closer together, or perhaps even overlap in some circumstances for example the zone where you simply stir up some drinks when your friends are over, the zone where you keep the seasoning and cooking zone may be the same if you have a small kitchen.

Make Ingredients Easy to Find

Instead of hiding away essentials like spices, freshly cracked black pepper, salt, oil, etc in a cupboard, keep them on your counter. By rounding up these items on a granite tray, you can keep your tabletop free of stray peppercorns and spillages. If you do not have a spice rack installed inside a cabinet or drawer, this solution will make finding anything from vanilla essence to rosemary a breeze.

Make the Most of Your Wall Space

Hook your knives using nice magnetic knife bars and attach them to the wall instead of putting them inside a cabinet or a big knife block made of wood.  It makes extra room in busy sections of the kitchens and is an eye-catching method to exhibit your knife collection. Store forks, kitchen utensils, graters, or even pans on a steel rod with hooks that can be fastened into your walls. It will allow additional drawer and cabinet space.

Think Vertically

Making the most of every square inch available to you. Use peg panels to hang your cooking utensil, and then make a chalkboard out of your pantry door.  This will make your life so much easier and transform the space into a more organized and efficient one.

Go For Open Shelves

The wall cabinets could be intimidating, especially in a kitchenette, but eliminating them to make the space feel more open creates a storage problem. That's where open shelving designs shine. When configured properly, this can be an amazing way to add design and character while also increasing the storage space. This is also an incredibly practical thing for storing your crockery for convenient accessibility and display.

Optimize shelves by arranging goods into groupings of three, and adding varying heights and sizes to each group to help them look nice, tidy, and thoughtfully designed.

Store The Items That You Occasionally Use Somewhere Else

Since you are already short on storage space, it is a good idea to store the kitchenware that you very rarely use (for example, those cookie cutters) somewhere else. If you don’t need them right away, it wouldn’t make a difference if those items are in the cupboard in your TV lounge.

A small space isn’t a problem, our lack of organizing skills is. We don’t have to have a huge kitchen space to store all our stuff, we just have to be smart about it. It's very possible to have a full-fledged kitchen even if the space you have isn’t necessarily the largest. You don’t have to compromise on anything! Organizing a small kitchen smartly and being able to keep it that way will make your life so much easier and your home so much tidier.
